DAY 1. Leaving from Lecco climbing monte Melma for the steep Montalbano dirty road until Ballabio. For several kilometers the track will not offer any fountain, so why don't we fill up our water bottles at the city centre bar including an espresso break? The long and on asphalt strada provinciale 63, with its hairpin turns facing Lecco and Monte Barro, will guide us until Forcella di Olino, where we will turn left on a wide dirty road direction Culmine di San Pietro.
Here, after another water refill, we will turn back untill the crossroad to Monte Due mani.
After pushing our bike for a few moments and crossing the stone rapresenting the border between Granducato di Milano and the Serenissima repubblica di Venezia, we will carry for the lasts 300mt gap our bike, to finally reach the edge of Due Mani until bivacco Milani. This sector is particularly tuff and you really need to know the path. Here, up to availability, our accomodation. On demand and with a good weather condition, a BBQ under the start is mandatory.
DAY 2. The shining sunrise will start our second part of the trip:Resegone, piani d’Erna,Garlate lake,Grigneand all the plain will finally show itself with the daylight with its beautiful colours.
Let's now chose the descent: a very technical one and with several moments carrying the bike by hand in direction of casere di Maggio. A second choise passing through Culmine di San Pietro is avaible, more affordable but never predictable. Descending on the country road of Valassina on asphalt we will reach Balisio to finally take the cycle way until Ballabio. Then Lecco again in off road through Montalbano dirty road.
